Problem
A rectangular garden has length (2x+3) metres and breadth (x−4) metres.
(i) Write an algebraic expression for the area of the garden in terms of x.
(ii) Expand the expression obtained in part (i) and write it in standard polynomial form.
(iii) If the length and breadth are each increased by 2 metres, find an expression for the new area, expand it, and hence determine the increase in area in terms of x.
(iv) Calculate the numerical increase in area when x=6.
