Problem

Let the function g:R→Rg:\mathbb R\to\mathbb R be defined by g(x)={x2−9x−3,x≠3,k,x=3.g(x)=\begin{cases}\displaystyle\frac{x^{2}-9}{x-3}, & x\neq3,\\[4pt]k, & x=3.\end{cases} Answer the following. (i) Evaluate lim⁡x→3x2−9x−3\displaystyle\lim_{x\to3}\frac{x^{2}-9}{x-3}. (ii) Determine the value of the constant kk so that gg is continuous at x=3x=3. (iii) Write the expression for g(x)g(x) after re-defining it with this value of kk so that it becomes continuous on the entire real line.
