Problem

Cyclist PP moves with velocity 15 m s−115\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} directed 60∘60^{\circ} east of north, while cyclist QQ moves with velocity 10 m s−110\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} due west on the same horizontal plane. (i) Represent the two velocity vectors from a common origin to scale on graph paper. (ii) Construct the velocity of PP relative to QQ. (iii) Indicate on the same diagram the vector −vQ-\mathbf{v}_Q and explain how it relates to the construction in part (ii). (iv) Measure the magnitude and direction of the relative velocity and state the final answer in standard polar form.
