Problem

Three point charges are fixed at the vertices of a right-angled triangle lying in the first quadrant: qA=+2 μCq_A = +2\,\mu\text{C} at A(0,0)A(0,0), qB=+4 μCq_B = +4\,\mu\text{C} at B(0.60 m, 0)B(0.60\,\text{m},\,0), and qC=−3 μCq_C = -3\,\mu\text{C} at C(0, 0.80 m)C(0,\,0.80\,\text{m}). Consider the right-angled vertex DD at (0.60 m, 0.80 m)(0.60\,\text{m},\,0.80\,\text{m}). (i) Find the xx-component and the yy-component of the electric field at DD due to each charge separately. (ii) Using the results of part (i), compute the magnitude of the resultant electric field at DD. (iii) Specify the angle that the resultant electric field at DD makes with the positive xx-axis and identify the quadrant in which the field vector lies.
