Problem

The lengths (in cm) of 50 metal rods produced in a factory were recorded and grouped as follows: Inclusive distribution: 110–119 (4), 120–129 (9), 130–139 (15), 140–149 (14), 150–159 (8) Answer the following. (i) Convert the above distribution into continuous class intervals. (ii) Prepare a ‘less than’ cumulative frequency table for the continuous distribution. (iii) On graph paper, draw the ‘less than’ ogive corresponding to the data. (iv) Using the ogive, estimate the median length of the rods, correct to one decimal place.
