Problem

Two long, parallel conductors AA and BB are kept 5 cm5\,\text{cm} apart and oriented vertically. (i) Conductor AA carries a current of 6 A6\,\text{A} upward. Conductor BB carries a current of 6 A6\,\text{A} downward. At the midpoint MM between the two wires, state separately the direction of the magnetic field produced by each conductor. (ii) Using your observations in part (i), determine the direction of the net magnetic field at point MM. (iii) Point NN lies 5 cm5\,\text{cm} to the right of conductor BB on the line joining AA and BB. Analyse the contributions from both conductors and state the direction of the net magnetic field at NN. Provide full reasoning for each step.
