Problem

Let f(x)=x3+ax2+bx+cf(x)=x^{3}+ax^{2}+bx+c. (i) Write, in terms of a,ba, b and cc, the remainder obtained when f(x)f(x) is divided by each of the following: (a) (x−1)(x-1) (b) (x+2)(x+2) (c) (x−3)(x-3). (ii) Given that the remainders in part (i) are 66, −5-5 and 1212 respectively, form three equations in a,ba, b and cc and hence determine their values. (iii) Using the values of a,ba, b and cc found in part (ii), find the remainder when f(x)f(x) is divided by (x+1)(x+1).
