Problem
Let P be a point on the x–axis such that its distance from the point Q(4,−3,5) is 13 units.
(i) Write the equation satisfied by the x–coordinate of P. (Take P(x,0,0).)
(ii) Solve the equation obtained in part (i) to find the possible coordinates of P. Express the answers in exact form.
(iii) If P lies to the right of the origin, state its coordinate and justify the choice of root.
