Problem

A wooden block of mass 5 kg5\,\text{kg} is kept on a smooth horizontal table. A small brass cylinder of mass 200 g200\,\text{g} is placed 20 cm20\,\text{cm} away from the centre of the block. (i) Convert all the given quantities to SI units. (ii) Calculate the magnitude of the gravitational force exerted between the block and the cylinder. Express your answer in scientific notation. (iii) The brass cylinder has weight WW. Find the ratio FW\frac{F}{W}, where FF is the force obtained in part (ii). Comment on whether the gravitational attraction between the two objects is significant compared with the weight of the cylinder.
