Problem

A company’s revenue (in thousands of rupees) from selling a product is modelled by the polynomial R(x)=x3−4x2−7x+10,R(x)=x^{3}-4x^{2}-7x+10, where xx denotes the number of hundreds of units sold. (i) Find the revenue when x=5x=5. Interpret your answer in the given context. (ii) Verify whether selling 1010 hundred units results in zero revenue. (iii) Given that selling 11 hundred unit results in zero revenue, factorise R(x)R(x) completely. (iv) Using your factorisation, find all positive integral values of xx (in hundreds) for which the revenue becomes zero, and interpret each value in the context of the company’s sales.
