Problem

A cube of side 0.10 m0.10\,\text{m} is kept in vacuum. A point charge of +4 μC+4\,\mu\text{C} is (a) placed at the centre of the cube and later (b) shifted to one of its corners. (i) State Gauss’s law in electrostatics. (ii) For case (a), calculate the total electric flux through the entire surface of the cube. (iii) For case (b), determine (a) the total electric flux through the entire cube, and (b) the electric flux through any one of the three faces that meet at the corner where the charge is situated. Give justification for your answers.
