Problem

A 9 V9\,\text{V} battery of internal resistance 1 Ω1\,\Omega feeds the following external circuit. • From the positive terminal the conductor reaches node XX. • Branch 1: XX to node YY through a 5 Ω5\,\Omega resistor, and then from YY back to the negative terminal through a 4 Ω4\,\Omega resistor. • Branch 2: XX to the same node YY through a 6 Ω6\,\Omega resistor. (i) Taking the current supplied by the battery as II, write the necessary algebraic equations that relate II and the branch currents. (ii) Determine the value of II. (iii) Find the terminal voltage of the battery. (iv) Calculate the current in the 6 Ω6\,\Omega resistor.
