A student connects a dry cell of emf 1.5 V, a torch bulb and a switch in series using copper connecting wires. The cell’s positive terminal is on the left and its negative terminal on the right.
(a) Draw a neat schematic diagram of the circuit, clearly showing the terminals of the cell, the bulb and the switch.
(b) With the help of arrows, indicate on your diagram:
(i) the direction of conventional current and
(ii) the direction in which free electrons actually drift in the connecting wire when the switch is closed.
(c) State and explain whether the brightness of the bulb is affected by choosing either direction in part (b i) or part (b ii) while analysing the circuit.
