Problem

A stone is projected vertically upward from level ground and is still rising after 3.0 s3.0\,\text{s}, having then covered a displacement of 45 m45\,\text{m} from the point of projection. Assume g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2} and take upward as positive. (i) Calculate the initial speed with which the stone was projected. (ii) Determine the maximum height reached by the stone above the point of projection. (iii) Find the total time of flight until the stone returns to the ground.
