Problem

Triangle ABCABC has vertices A(2,3)A(2,3), B(8,7)B(8,7) and C(4,−1)C(4,-1). The points DD, EE and FF are the mid-points of BCBC, CACA and ABAB respectively. (i) Find the area of △ABC\triangle ABC. (ii) Find the area of △DEF\triangle DEF. (iii) Hence determine the ratio area(△ABC)area(△DEF)\displaystyle \dfrac{\text{area}(\triangle ABC)}{\text{area}(\triangle DEF)}.
