Problem

Four resistors 5 Ω5\,\Omega, 10 Ω10\,\Omega, 15 Ω15\,\Omega and 20 Ω20\,\Omega are connected so that 5 Ω5\,\Omega and 10 Ω10\,\Omega form one parallel branch while 15 Ω15\,\Omega and 20 Ω20\,\Omega form another parallel branch. The two branches are then connected in series across a 24 V24\,\text{V} supply of negligible internal resistance. (i) Calculate the equivalent resistance of each parallel branch. (ii) Hence find the total resistance of the circuit. (iii) Determine the power dissipated in the 10 Ω10\,\Omega resistor.
