Problem

A turntable starts from rest, rotates with a constant angular acceleration for a short interval, and is then brought to rest with a different constant angular deceleration of smaller magnitude than the initial acceleration. (i) Draw a qualitative sketch of the ω\omega–tt graph for the entire motion, clearly showing the two stages. (ii) Explain why the angular velocity and angular displacement must be continuous at the instant the acceleration changes sign. (iii) What physical quantity is represented by the area under each straight-line segment of the ω\omega–tt graph? State its unit.
