Problem

The table below gives the steady current amplitudes obtained in a series LCR circuit when the angular frequency of the applied emf is varied, keeping its peak value constant. ω (rad s⁻¹): 800 1000 1200 1400 1600 I (A): 0.22 0.28 0.35 0.28 0.22 (a) Part 1: (i) Plot a smooth graph of I versus ω on a suitable scale. (b) Part 2: (ii) From your graph, determine the angular frequency ω₀ at which the current is maximum and note the corresponding current ImaxI_{\text{max}}. (c) Part 3: (iii) Using the same graph, locate the two angular frequencies at which the current falls to Imax/2I_{\text{max}}/\sqrt{2}. Hence obtain the bandwidth Δω. (d) Part 4: (iv) Calculate the quality factor Q of the circuit.
