The masses of parcels handled in a courier office on a particular day are given below. The class intervals are of different widths and have gaps between them.
Mass (kg) | Number of parcels
0–4 | 6
5–14 | 15
15–24 | 20
25–44 | 10
45–54 | 4
Answer the following questions.
(i) Express the distribution with continuous class intervals.
(ii) For each class, compute the frequency density.
(iii) State which class will have the tallest rectangle when a histogram for the adjusted data is drawn and justify your answer using the calculated frequency densities.
(iv) Give one reason why frequency density, and not simple frequency, must be used for the histogram of this data.
