Problem

In △ABC\triangle ABC, ∠B=90∘\angle B = 90^\circ. The perpendicular from BB to the hypotenuse ACAC meets ACAC at DD. Given that AB=6 cmAB = 6\,\text{cm} and BC=8 cmBC = 8\,\text{cm}, answer the following: (i) Prove that △ADB∼△ABC\triangle ADB \sim \triangle ABC. (ii) Using the result of part (i), show that AD⋅AC=AB2AD \cdot AC = AB^2. (iii) Hence find the length of ADAD. (iv) Calculate the length of the altitude BDBD.
