A plastic cube is floating steadily on still water. Careful observation shows that three–quarters of its volume is below the water surface.
Assume the density of water to be 1000kgm−3.
(i) State the condition of forces acting on the cube while it is floating in equilibrium.
(ii) Using this condition, show that the density of the plastic material is three–quarters of the density of water.
(iii) Hence calculate the density of the plastic in kgm−3.
