Problem
A 9 V battery can safely deliver a maximum power of 1.5 W. Three resistors, each of 3 Ω, are available.
(i) For each of the following ways of using all three resistors—(a) all in series, (b) all in parallel, (c) two in parallel and the combination in series with the third—calculate the current drawn from the battery.
(ii) For each arrangement, find the power delivered by the battery.
(iii) Identify which arrangement(s), if any, keep the power within the safe limit of the battery.
