Problem

A variable dc supply VsV_s (0–15 V) feeds a two-resistor divider in which R1=2 kΩR_1 = 2\,\text{k}\Omega is connected to the supply and R2=1 kΩR_2 = 1\,\text{k}\Omega. A device that behaves as a constant 1.5 kΩ1.5\,\text{k}\Omega resistor is connected across R2R_2. (i) Derive an algebraic expression for the output voltage VoutV_{out} across the 1.5 kΩ1.5\,\text{k}\Omega device in terms of the supply voltage VsV_s. (ii) Evaluate VoutV_{out} when Vs=10 VV_s = 10\,\text{V}. (iii) Obtain the rate of change dVoutdVs\dfrac{dV_{out}}{dV_s} and comment on how closely the output tracks changes in the supply voltage. (iv) State one practical implication of your result for the design of voltage-sensitive electronic circuits.
