Problem

An ammeter of internal resistance 1 Ω is connected in series with two resistors of 4 Ω and 6 Ω across an 11 V battery of negligible internal resistance. (i) Calculate the potential difference across the 6 Ω resistor when the ammeter is in the circuit. (ii) The ammeter is now removed and replaced by a wire of negligible resistance. Calculate the new potential difference across the 6 Ω resistor. (iii) Determine the percentage change in the potential difference across the 6 Ω resistor due to the removal of the ammeter.
