Problem

A body starts from rest and moves along a straight line. Its velocity at the end of every second is given below: Time tt (s): 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 Velocity vv (m s−1^{-1}): 0 3 6 9 12 14 15 (i) For each 1-s interval, calculate the acceleration. (ii) Identify the time intervals during which the body has uniform acceleration and those during which it has non-uniform acceleration. (iii) For the interval 0 – 4 s, find the displacement of the body using the suitable equation of motion and the data in the table. Give a reason why the same method cannot be used for the interval 4 – 6 s, and suggest how the displacement for that interval may be estimated.
