Problem

The quadratic polynomial r(x)=x2+4x−5r(x)=x^2+4x-5 is given below. (i) Find r(2)r(2). (ii) Using the definition of a zero of a polynomial, state whether x=2x=2 is a zero of r(x)r(x). Give a reason for your answer. (iii) Explain how the value obtained in part (i) is related to the remainder obtained when r(x)r(x) is divided by (x−2)(x-2)."
