Problem

Two very long, straight, parallel wires carry steady currents II & −I-I respectively. The distance between the wires is dd. At a certain instant of time, a point charge qq is at a point equidistant from the two wires, in the plane of the wires. Its instantaneous velocity v⃗\vec{v} is perpendicular to this plane. Find the magnitude of the force due to the magnetic field acting on the charge at this instant. (1) μ0Iqv2πd\frac{\mu_0 Iqv}{2\pi d} (2) μ0Iqvπd\frac{\mu_0 Iqv}{\pi d} (3) 2μ0Iqvπd\frac{2\mu_0 Iqv}{\pi d} (4) 0
