Problem

A point charge +6 μC+6\,\mu\text{C} is fixed at the origin OO. A second point charge −3 μC-3\,\mu\text{C} is fixed on the yy-axis at P(0,0.30 m)P(0,0.30\,\text{m}). (i) Determine the position(s) on the yy-axis where the electric potential is zero. (ii) A test charge +1 μC+1\,\mu\text{C} is placed at the point found in part (i). Calculate its electric potential energy with respect to infinity. (iii) Comment on the stability of the test charge at that position by referring to the nature (sign) of the charges involved.
