Problem

A decorative pillar is built by stacking three identical solid cylinders one above the other and then placing a solid hemisphere on the very top. Each cylinder has radius 0.35 m and height 0.5 m, and the hemisphere has the same radius. (i) Calculate the total volume of the pillar. (ii) The entire outer surface of the pillar, except the circular base that rests on the ground, is to be polished. Find the surface area to be polished. (iii) If polishing costs Rs 80 per square metre, determine the total cost. (Use π=22 ⁣/7\pi = 22 \!/7.)
