Problem

Let ff be continuous on R\mathbb R and let g(x)=A f(Bx+C)+D,g(x)=A\,f(Bx+C)+D, where A,B≠0,  C, DA,B\neq0,\;C,\,D are constants and p<qp<q. (i) Derive an expression for the average value of gg on the interval [p,q][p,q] in terms of A, B, DA,\,B,\,D and the average value of ff over a suitable interval to be determined. (ii) From the expression obtained in part (i), explain separately how varying AA and how varying DD influence the average value of gg.
