Problem

A student practices throwing a rubber ball toward an open window on the second floor of a building. The release point of the ball is 1.2 m1.2\,\text{m} above the ground. The center of the window is horizontally 10.0 m10.0\,\text{m} away from the release point and 5.2 m5.2\,\text{m} above it. The student can consistently throw the ball with an initial speed of 16.0 m/s16.0\,\text{m/s}. Ignore air resistance and use g=9.8 m/s2g=9.8\,\text{m/s}^2. (a) Determine all possible launch angles (measured above the horizontal) that allow the ball to pass exactly through the center of the window. (b) For each angle found in part (a), calculate the corresponding flight time to the window. (c) Identify which of the allowable angles results in a shorter time of flight and briefly explain why.
