A suitcase of mass 12kg is pulled along a level floor by a horizontal handle. The coefficient of static friction between the suitcase and the floor is 0.35 and the suitcase is just on the verge of sliding.
(a) Draw the free-body diagram of the suitcase, showing all external forces.
(b) Calculate the normal reaction exerted by the floor on the suitcase.
(c) Determine the horizontal force that must be applied through the handle to bring the suitcase to this limiting state of rest.
