Problem

A solid cubical block of side 0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} is completely submerged in freshwater (ρ=1000 kg m−3\rho=1000\,\text{kg}\,\text{m}^{-3}). The top face of the cube is 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m} below the free surface. (i) Calculate the pressure on the top face. (ii) Calculate the pressure on the bottom face. (iii) Hence determine the magnitude of the net upward force acting on the cube.
