Problem

A radio–tuning section can be modelled as a series RLCRLC circuit with R=15 ΩR = 15\,\Omega, L=0.50 HL = 0.50\,\text{H} and C=2.0 μFC = 2.0\,\mu\text{F}. The r.m.s. value of the applied sinusoidal voltage is 220 V220\,\text{V}. (a) Calculate the resonant frequency (in hertz) of the circuit. (b) Determine the r.m.s. current at resonance. (c) Find the two angular frequencies at which the r.m.s. current falls to 12\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}} of its value at resonance. (d) Using the results of part (c), compute the bandwidth (in rad s−1^{-1}) and the quality factor QQ of the circuit.
