Problem

A footbridge is supported on each bank of a canal by identical triangular frames. On the left bank, a vertical post PQPQ of height 3 m3\,\text{m} is fixed to the ground at QQ, and a slant beam PRPR of length 5 m5\,\text{m} is connected from the top PP of the post to a point RR on the bank such that QRQR is horizontal. On the right bank, a similar arrangement is made with a vertical post STST of height 3 m3\,\text{m} and a slant beam SUSU of length 5 m5\,\text{m} touching the ground at UU so that TUTU is horizontal. (a) Prove that the two triangular frames △PQR\triangle PQR and △STU\triangle STU are congruent. (b) Find the lengths of QRQR and TUTU. (c) Calculate the combined length of the two horizontal members QR+TUQR + TU.
