Problem

A solid metallic sphere of mass 6.0 kg6.0\,\text{kg} is carried by a balloon to a weather station where the local gravitational field intensity is measured to be 9.72 m s−29.72\,\text{m\,s}^{-2}. Answer the following. (a) Calculate the weight of the sphere at the weather station. (b) If at another location the same sphere is found to weigh 60.5 N60.5\,\text{N}, determine the magnitude of the gravitational field intensity at that place.
