Problem

A rectangular garden is laid out on a coordinate grid such that its south-west corner is at the origin O(0,0)O(0,0). Each unit on the grid represents 11 metre. The positions of certain objects in the garden are described below: • A mango tree MM is 99 metres east of OO and 22 metres north of the xx-axis. • A rose bush RR is 44 metres west of the yy-axis and 22 metres north of the xx-axis. • A fountain FF is 99 metres east of OO and 66 metres south of the xx-axis. Answer the following: (i) Write the coordinates of MM, RR and FF. (ii) Show that the line segment joining MM and FF is parallel to the yy-axis, and the line segment joining MM and RR is parallel to the xx-axis, giving suitable reasons based on their coordinates. (iii) If a bench BB has to be placed exactly midway between MM and RR along the line segment MRMR, determine the coordinates of BB without using any formula beyond what you have learnt in Class 9.
