Problem

The total electric flux emerging out of a certain closed surface in vacuum is measured to be −1.8×104 N m2 ⁣ ⁣ /C-1.8\times10^{4}\,\text{N m}^{2}\!\!\,/\text{C}. (i) Determine the net charge enclosed by the surface. (ii) Suppose this charge is the resultant of three point charges located inside the surface, two of which are +3 μC+3\,\mu\text{C} each. Calculate the third charge, clearly stating its sign. (iii) If the third charge found in part (ii) is moved outside the surface without changing its magnitude and the other two charges remain inside, find the new electric flux through the closed surface.
