Problem

A decomposition reaction obeys the rate law rate=k[X]3\text{rate}=k[\text{X}]^{3}. In an experiment carried out at 25 ∘C25\,^{\circ}\text{C} the rate constant was determined to be 1.4×104  L2 mol−2 min−11.4\times10^{4}\;\text{L}^{2}\,\text{mol}^{-2}\,\text{min}^{-1}. (a) Determine the correct scientific-unit expression for kk when the rate is expressed in mol L−1 s−1\text{mol}\,\text{L}^{-1}\,\text{s}^{-1} rather than mol L−1 min−1\text{mol}\,\text{L}^{-1}\,\text{min}^{-1}. (b) Show, using dimensional analysis, that your converted units for kk are consistent with the overall order of the reaction.
