Problem

Two identical positive point charges are fixed at points A and B, 20 cm apart, on a straight line in vacuum. (i) State Coulomb’s law in vector form, clearly specifying the meaning of each symbol used. (ii) Without doing any numerical calculation, explain whether there exists at least one point on the line AB where a small positive test charge would experience zero net electrostatic force. Give reasons in support of your answer. (iii) Would such a point of zero net force, if any, lie outside the segment AB? Justify your answer qualitatively.
