Problem

Planet A and Planet B consist of the same uniform material, so their average densities are equal. The radius of Planet B is twice the radius of Planet A. (i) Establish the ratio of the masses of Planet A and Planet B. (ii) Hence obtain the ratio of the accelerations due to gravity at their surfaces. (iii) A space probe has a weight of 400 N on Planet A. Calculate its weight on Planet B. (iv) Which planet would allow the probe to lift off more easily? Give a brief reason based on your calculations.
