Problem
A body of mass m starts from rest on a smooth horizontal track.
(i) Derive an expression for the work that must be done on the body to give it a speed v.
(ii) Using your result, calculate the work required to accelerate a 1.5kg hammer head from rest to 8m/s.
(iii) The same amount of work obtained in part (ii) is now supplied to two identical hammer heads tied together and released from rest on the same track. Determine the common speed they will acquire.
