Problem

Let SS be the region in the plane bounded by the curves y=x2y = x^2, y=2x−x2y = 2x - x^2, and the yy–axis. The entire region is revolved about the yy–axis. (a) Sketch a clear labeled diagram of the region SS, indicating the points of intersection of y=x2y = x^2 and y=2x−x2y = 2x - x^2. (b) Express the yy–coordinates of the intersection points found in part (a) in exact form. (c) Write the integral expression(s) that represent the volume of the solid obtained when region SS is revolved about the yy–axis. Your integrals should use horizontal slices and may require more than one integral. (d) Evaluate the integral expression(s) from part (c) to obtain the exact volume of the solid.
