Problem

Consider the following oxyanions: PO43−\text{PO}_4^{3-}, P2O64−\text{P}_2\text{O}_6^{4-}, SO42−\text{SO}_4^{2-}, MnO4−\text{MnO}_4^-, CrO42−\text{CrO}_4^{2-}, S2O52−\text{S}_2\text{O}_5^{2-}, and S2O72−\text{S}_2\text{O}_7^{2-}. Find the value of r+q−pr+q-p, where pp is the number of oxyanions having three equivalent XX–OO bonds per central atom, qq is the number having two equivalent XX–OO bonds per central atom, and rr is the number having four equivalent XX–OO bonds per central atom.
