Problem

Consider the polynomial function P(x)=5(x2−4)(3x+2).P(x)=5(x^{2}-4)(3x+2). (a) Calculate P′(x)P'(x) and simplify your result as far as possible. (b) Hence determine P′(2)P'(2). (c) State whether P′(2)P'(2) is positive, negative or zero and interpret this sign in terms of the rate of change of P(x)P(x) at x=2x=2.
