Problem

A playground roundabout of radius 2.2 m2.2\ \mathrm{m} starts from rest and its angular speed increases uniformly at Ω˙=0.35 rad s−2\dot\Omega = 0.35\ \mathrm{rad\,s^{-2}}. A child of mass mm sits at the rim, holding on, and is treated as a point mass fixed in the roundabout's frame (no sliding relative to the rim). Air resistance is ignored. ((a)) Find the magnitude of the Euler acceleration felt by the child while the roundabout is speeding up. ((b)) State the direction of this acceleration relative to the sense in which the roundabout is speeding up.
