Problem

A generating function of the first type is F1(q,Q)=qQ2.F_1(q,Q) = qQ^2. ((a)) Using p=∂F1/∂qp = \partial F_1/\partial q and P=−∂F1/∂QP = -\partial F_1/\partial Q, and then eliminating QQ, obtain QQ as a function of qq and pp on the branch p>0p>0, Q>0Q>0, and say what goes wrong at p=0p=0. ((b)) Obtain PP as a function of qq and pp. ((c)) Compute {Q,P}\{Q,P\} directly in (q,p)(q,p) and confirm the transformation is canonical.
