Problem

A slender steel push-rod has a solid circular cross-section of diameter d=12 mmd = 12\,\mathrm{mm} and length L=0.9 mL = 0.9\,\mathrm{m}, with E=200 GPaE = 200\,\mathrm{GPa}. ((a)) Find its Euler buckling load if both ends are pinned. ((b)) Find its Euler buckling load if both ends are clamped, and express the result as a multiple of the pinned value.
