Problem

Section 1.1 gives solid argon's cohesive energy as 0.080 eV0.080\,\mathrm{eV} per atom and its number density as n=2.44×1028 m−3n=2.44\times10^{28}\,\mathrm{m^{-3}}. Estimate the pressure scale set by argon's bonding, by dividing its cohesive energy per atom by the volume per atom, and express the result in GPa\mathrm{GPa} and as a multiple of atmospheric pressure (1 atm=101325 Pa1\,\mathrm{atm}=101325\,\mathrm{Pa}).
