Problem

Boron's acceptor level in silicon is measured at 45 meV45\,\mathrm{meV}, and silicon's relative permittivity is ϵr=11.7\epsilon_r=11.7. Using the acceptor formula (the mirror of the donor one), estimate the effective mass the simple hydrogen-scaling model implies for the bound hole, as a multiple of mm. Compare it with silicon's density-of-states hole mass, mh,dos∗=0.555mm^*_{h,\rm dos}=0.555m, used earlier in the chapter to count states.
